She won the women's singles gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain and the bronze medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, United States. She retired from the world badminton circuit not long after her marriage to Alan Budikusuma (魏仁芳) (who had also won a badminton singles gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics) in February of 1997. Susanti was the most dominant women's singles player of the early to mid 1990s, winning the All-England in 1990, 1991, 1993 and 1994, the World Badminton Grand Prix finale five times consecutively from 1990 to 1994, and the IBF World Championships in 1993. She is the only female player to hold the Olympic, World Championship, and All-England singles titles simultaneously. She won the Japan Open three times and the Indonesian Open five times. She also won numerous Badminton Grand Prix Series events and five Badminton World Cups. She led the Indonesian team to victory over perennial champion China in the 1994 and 1996 Uber Cup (women's world team) competitions. All of this came during a relatively strong period in women's international badminton. Her chief competitors early in her prime years were the Chinese players Tang Jiuhong and Huang Hua, and, later, China's Ye Zhaoying and the Korean star Bang Soo-hyun.

Susanti was inducted into the International Badminton Federation (IBF, currently BWF) Hall of Fame in May 2004, and received the Herbert Scheele Trophy in 2002.

LAS VEGAS -- Chris John retained his WBA featherweight title with an unanimous decision over Rocky Juarez on Saturday night, hanging on in the 12th round to win their second bout in seven months.

Lightweight Michael Katsidis also kept his comeback on track with a split-decision win over Vicente Escobedo on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s comeback fight against Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand Garden.

John (43-0-2, 22 KOs) was clearly quicker through most of the rematch of the fighters' Feb. 28 bout, which ended with a rare unanimous draw in Juarez's native Texas -- a fight many thought John won.

I love Chris John. Dia berhasil mempertahankan gelar dunia kelas bulu versi WBA yg ke sembilan kali. Hanya perlu satu lagi utk meraih gelar Super Champ dari WBA. Chris John menang di ronde ke tujuh dengan TKO. Sebetulnya sih, Cabalerro belum jatuh tetapi dia mengundurkan diri dari pertandingan. Sebenarnya sih sayang, karena kalau diteruskan, besar kemunginan Chris John bisa memukul jatuh Cabalerro. Tetapi saya acungi jempol buat Cabalerro yg berani mengakui kondisi dirinya yg sudah tidak mampu melawan Chris John. Lebih baik menyerah dibandingkan ada kejadian yg tidak diinginkan.

Chris John mampu mempertahankan gelar sabuk juara dunia tinju kelas bulu versi WBA setelah menghentikan penantang asal Jepang, Zaiki Takemoto, dalam pertarungan di Kobe, Jepang, hari ini.

Petinju berjulukan The Dragon itu menang TKO di ronde ke-10. Wasit menghentikan pertandingan setelah Takemoto mengalami luka di pelipis karena berondongan tinju Chris John.

Usai pertandingan Chris John mengatakan mempersembahkan kemenangan ini sebagai kado kecil di hari kemerdekaan Indonesia yang ke-62. Dia menyampaikan ucapan kepada masyarakat Indonesia di Jepang atas dukungan mereka selama pertandingan. "Tak lupa Saya mengucapkan terima kasih atas dukungan masyarakat Indonesia di Jepang," ujarnya.
